A tough slate of games in 2008 has already bitten the Gaston Bulldogs.  Facing Class 3A’s ninth ranked Sardis Lions, the Bulldogs fell 13-7.  Don’t let this effect your vision of this team’s capability.  They are still the favorite to get to Birmingham out of Class 1A’s northern division.

Tailback Demont Buice was held to a routine 13 carry 158 yard, 1 touchdowns performance against a Lion team destined to keep the ball out of the hands of the potent Gaston offense.

The offensive line for Gaston returns in tact with the exception of the center position.  Offensive tackle Cody Short, a first team All-State selection last season, leads the group into what should be another successful season.

The Bulldogs need not worry about their season opening loss.  They have enough to be concerned about with Valley Head and Cedar Bluff lurking down the road.  Both sets of Tigers defeated Gaston last season on the road.  Gaston will have to travel to Cedar Bluff and Valley Head later in ’08.
