On the heels of an outstanding, yet unheralded, season in 2007, the Wadley Bulldogs enter the 2008 campaign as one of few favorites in Class 1A.

Last season, Randy Sparks’ team claimed 11 wins with two of those victories coming in the post-season. Unfortunately for Wadley, they fell to the Sweet Water Bulldogs 39-7 in the third round. The Bulldogs went on to win the state title. Meanwhile Wadley went home to regroup. And regroup they did.

Despite close win over Horeshoe Bend [20-18] in Week 1, Wadley will eventually come around to playing their brand of football. They’ve got size, speed and the coaching staff to go alongside.

Running back Timothy Marable, quarterback’s Trey Fetner and Dalton Jones, along with a talented receiving core will bail out the offense until the offensive line comes around. Strong showings against Lineville [fall jamboree] and Woodland [spring jamboree] has to give the teams some confidence entering season’s slate of games.

After all, this team put up more than 500 points last year. A 20-point effort in week 1 should serve as a tune-up for what is to come.
