North-South Softball Rosters Announced

Local trio, headlined by Saks pitcher Cara Law [pictured above], makes the North roster for the upcoming North-South All-star competition.

 

MONTGOMERY—Teams and coaches selected for the North-South softball competition during the 12th annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week July 14-18 in Huntsville have been announced by Steve Bailey, director of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association.

 

Both rosters are composed of upcoming seniors. The all-stars will play a doubleheader on Wednesday, July 16, at the Metro Kiwanis Sportsplex at 6 p.m.

 

Sports Week features in-state all-star games in volleyball, girls and boys basketball, baseball, football and boys and girls soccer. Also included are clinics and sessions for coaches, athletic directors, cheerleader coaches and officials. An All-Sports Product Expo and other related activities are scheduled throughout the week.

 

Coaching the NORTH team are Rusty Bates of Hazel Green, Rachel Countryman of White Plans and Kent Chambers of Bob Jones, the administrative coach.

 

The members of the NORTH team include:

 

Infielders: Kate Lindsey Armstrong, Vestavia Hills; Breanna Ball, Pisgah; Kristina Frith, Grissom; Ciara Garcia, Sparkman; Cara Law, Saks; Abigail MacKay, Sparkman; Audrey McClanahan, Hartselle; Lillian Sutton, Skyline.

 

Outfielders: Whitney Hood, Lawrence County; Lauren Siebert, West Morgan; Amanda Slatton, Corner; Courtney Taylor, Hoover; Shelby Woltjen, Bob Jones.

 

Pitchers: Cathy Hathcock, Central-Florence; Morgan McClure, Pell City; Hilary Phillips, Ider.

 

Catchers: Alyssa Brown, Alexandria; Whitney Fletcher, Decatur;

 

Coaches for the SOUTH team are Miranda Griggs of Russell County, Patricia Ball of Dothan and Susan Barnes of Elba, the administrative coach.

 

SOUTH team members are:

 

Infielders: Casey Clark, Prattville; Janelle Green, Auburn; Denavia Harrison, Benjamin Russell; Laura Ostrye, St. James; Kayla Rester, St. Paul’s; Anna Shartzer, Robertsdale; Lisa Ybarra, Gulf Shores.

 

Outfielders: Jimeshia Bennett, Baldwin County; Vanessa Peterson, Smiths Station; Jessica Centner, Andalusia; Hailey Glynn, Pelham.

 

Pitchers: Morgan Druhan, Spanish Fort; Kaleigh Floore, St. Paul’s; Louise Gibson, Oak Mountain; Lauren Webster, Alabama Christian.

 

Catcher: Erin Byrd, Pleasant Home; Kelsey Cooper, Mary Montgomery; Kacey Ost, Baker.

 

The Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association operates under the auspices of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. Membership includes coaches of all AHSAA sports as well as administrators of member schools.
