Opening ASWA Baseball Poll

Childersburg sits atop the Class 4A poll, just like they finished the 2007 season.

The Alabama Sports Writer's Association released it's first baseball poll of the season this week with four defending state champions garnering the top spot in their respective classifications.  Hackleburg [1A], Leroy [2A], Hokes Bluff [3A] and Childersburg [4A] are all slated as the favorite for a repeat.

In Classes 5A and 6A two new teams headline their classifications.  Russell County, who lost the state championship series to Hillcrest last season, are number one in 6A.  Meanwhile Bibb County is tops in Class 5A with the defending state champion in that class [Cullman] coming in a number 7.
