Oxford and Alexandria set to meet in the County Championship game Wednesday night at 6p.m.
Oxford 14
Jacksonville 3
*Saxon Butler went deep twice for Oxford for the second consecutive game. On the season he has 8 homeruns in 13 games. “He’s probably the best hitter I’ve ever coached”, said Oxford head coach Wes Brooks following the team 11-run win.
Butler and company take the field tomorrow night with their ace, Trey Pilkington, likely getting the nod on the mound.
Alexandria 5
Piedmont 1
*Alexandria’s Reggie Patterson and Taylor Shanks hit back-to-back homeruns in the first inning off Piedmont pitcher Elliot Reedy. The bombs resulted in 3 Valley Cub runs that turned out to be the difference.
Alexandria head coach Andy Shaw said he will use a pitching staff by committee in the championship game against Oxford.
