Hoyt and Williams headed to Nike combine

Lincoln duo to showcase their skills this weekend at a major scouting combine.

LINCOLN--Almost from the minute they were born Lincoln QB T.J. Hoyt and RB Tiger Williams have been nearly in-separable.  Collectively, the pair has played a huge role putting Lincoln back on the state’s crowded football map. 

“We’ve been together since we were babies, playing football {and} little league baseball [together].  We’ve been doing everything together for as long as I can remember,” said Williams earlier this week. 

This weekend, the pair will be together again. 

Williams and Hoyt will travel to Atlanta as participants in Nike’s 2008 high school combine.  The fifth leg of Nike’s five-month, 16-city nationwide tour touting itself as “The premier high school athletic testing event,” tests athletes in a variety of ways including the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle run and vertical jump among others. 

Top high school and college coaches and scouts ascend on the combine to evaluate, demonstrate and most of all get their first glimpse of future talent.  Open to all rising seniors and top underclassmen, the combine boasts such notable alumni as NFL stars Devin Hester, Larry Fitzgerald and according to it’s website has produced thousands of scholarship players since it’s inception nearly 20 years ago. 

Two of the more versatile athletes in the state for the class of 2009, the duo, scheduled to attend Alabama’s junior day next month, welcome the opportunity to showcase their skills while representing their community. 

“It’s just about representing our school, ourselves and our family,” says Williams.
