Jackson, Keith and Snider make decisions
Piedmont’s Jackson headed to West Alabama
After gaining steam as one of the best athletes in East Alabama, Piedmont’s D’Eric Jackson has decided to take his talents to West Alabama. Today, the one-time Lineville product, who transferred to Piedmont for his senior season, chose to play college football for Coach Bobby Wallace at the University formerly known as Livingston.
“He’s got a long way to go,” said Piedmont head coach Steve Smith referring to the talent ceiling of his former pupil. “By the time he’s done there I think he can be an impact player.”
Being an impact player is something Jackson is very familiar with.
Following his successful tenure with the Aggies, Jackson decided a move back to his old home in Piedmont for his final season on the high school gridiron. Needless to say, it didn’t take him long to get acclimated. After only five days of fall practice, his teammates voted him permanent team captain.
As far as picking up the system, he proved a quick study at that as well.
“He’s very football smart,” said Smith. “He picked it up in just a couple of days.”
He picked it up and ran with it.
During his senior year, Jackson accumulated 893 yards and 19 touchdowns rushing, 4 touchdowns and 424 yards receiving, meanwhile tacking on 105 yards and 1 touchdown passing. He also returned 13 punts for 310 yards and 3 touchdowns.
West Alabama wasn’t the only school taking a look at Jackson. The somewhat undersized sparkplug was scheduled to visit Carson Newman this weekend but decided against following his visit out west.
*Snider commits to Florida State
Cleburne County offensive tackle had a change of heart recently, and you can’t blame him. After committing to Samford weeks ago, the Heflin product finally got the offer he yearned for. Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett offered Snider and he gladly accepted.
According to a Rivals.com article, Snider will grey-shirt in 2008. Although only ranking as a 2-Star recruit, Snider stands 6-4 275 pounds. He chose Florida State over offers from Samford, Jacksonville State and Troy.
*Keith to sign with Jacksonville State
After months of phone calls from various schools, it appears that Talladega wide-out Tae Keith is ready to sign on the dotted line. Thanks to a phone call from Talladega head coach Bill Grainger, Highschoolgameday has learned that Keith will sign with Jacksonville State University on Wednesday.
The 6-2 200 pound athlete had offers from UAB, Jacksonville State and Alabama State.
